"An Integral Part of the Live Oak Community"

The City of Live Oak is very family oriented and seeks to provide safe and enjoyable activities that encourage participation by the entire community.  Some of Live Oak's favorite events include Ice Cream Night, Stay Kool at the Pool, Karaoke Night, School Pencil Give Away and National Night Out, which continue to grow in community participation each year.

Neighborhood parks are a combination playground and park with family oriented recreation areas intended to serve the community.  The City of Live Oak has four parks which have many open areas for activities such as soccer, baseball, softball, volleyball and structured children's play equipment.

The City offers a wide variety of seasonal activities for children and adults of all ages at very affordable prices, and through the generous donations of individuals and businesses the City is able to offer a scholarship program to assist low income families with swim passes and other recreational programs.

Live Oak Riverfront Park Boat Launching Facility/Recreation Area

The Live Oak Riverfront Park Boat Launching Facility was originally constructed in 1965 by the US Army Corps of Engineers.  The launch ramp was 25 feet wide and 160 feet long and occasionally became unusable at lower river levels.  The launch ramp provided river access to sport fisherman and recreational river users in the vicinity of the city of Live Oak.

To increase accessibility to the Feather River and complete the Riverfront Park improvements the County of Sutter applied for and received two grants totaling $1,118,000 from the State Department of Boating and Waterways to reconstruct the launching ramp.  The new ramp would be two lanes, 39 feet wide, 240 feet long and include boarding floats.  The two-lane ramp and the associated boarding floats would allow vessels to be launched and recovered at the same time.  The much longer ramp was designed to exceed current state Department of Boating and Waterways requirements for depth at the low water level so that the river could be accessible year round.

Live Oak Swimming Pool ~ Over 50 Years and Still Going Strong!

In 1954, thanks to the vision and initiative of community volunteers, the Live Oak swimming pool began its construction and was completed in 1956.  Over the years the pool has undergone a series of major remodels and upgrades, to become the community focal point of summer activities and annual events in the City of Live Oak.

A normal day at the pool draws a variety of ages and activities.  Children and adults alike are seen splashing in the clear refreshing water of the main swimming pool, while parents with their smaller children play around the baby pool.  The lap pool is in constant use by the youth racing from edge to edge and two colorful slides are non-stop action with swimmers of all ages enjoying them.  The surrounding pool area has several tables with benches located under large umbrellas, which offer a cool place for non-swimmers to escape the heat.  If you are too small for the large "L" shaped pool, the baby pool is available for children ages 5 years and younger.  Swim diapers are provided free of charge to all infants and the City does not charge a fee for babies to use the baby pool.  With a minimal entrance fee of $1 during the day and 50 cents at night, the pool offers an affordable and healthy activity for the whole family.

Located on the corner of Pennington Road and P Street, the pool is open daily from Memorial Day until the end of August.   The Pool also connects to the Live Oak Memorial Park and is favorite place for summer activities and events.
