Diane Hodges was elected to the City Council in November 2006 and then voted as Mayor in January 2007.
Diane and her husband have had the privilege of calling Live Oak their home for over 45 years. She worked for the Live Oak Unified School District for 16 years and before being elected as a Council Member she was a homemaker.
Diane is married to Ken and they have two children and two granddaughters.
Diane knows there are many important issues in the City of Live Oak, but, the ones she focuses more of her energy on are traffic issues, economic development infrastructure, the Waste Water Treatment Plant Upgrade and the General Plan Update.

Council Member Malcolm Weston

Malcolm Weston was appointed to the City Council in August 2009 to fill the remainder of Councilman Al Fortino's term. Previously, Malcolm served as a Planning Commissioner and member of the Community Relations Committee for the City of Live Oak.
Malcolm and his wife, Patsy, have been married for 46 years and moved to Live Oak a little over four years ago from Fairfield. They have eight children and 26 grandchildren.
Malcolm spent 39 years working in water resources activities for the U.S. Geological Survey and the Contra Costa County Department of Public Works, Flood Control Division, and retired in 2003. In addition to his employment, Malcolm has volunteered as a Boy Scout leader for over 25 years and with Patsy are active in adult service in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Preparation, attention to detail and reliability are characteristics Malcolm hopes will serve the citizens of Live Oak well. The small town atmosphere and history that are a part of what makes Live Oak a great place to live are important elements to enhance and preserve as the City moves forward. Strong family values, public safety, traffic and local business support are areas of interest for Malcolm, who encourages the citizens of Live Oak to come forward and make your concerns, ideas and suggestions for improvement known.

Council Member Harold Childers

Harold Childers was elected to the City Council in November 2006.
Harold has been a resident of Live Oak for about five years and his wife, Vina Barber, has been a resident for her whole life.
Harold retired from the Carpenters Union in 2003 where he had been employed for 25 years.

Vice Mayor Robert Klotz

Rob Klotz has been a lifelong resident of Northern California where his family has been in the feed and farm supply business for three generations. Rob's occupation is retail management and he also owns a small real estate consulting business in Live Oak.
Rob's retail career has included managing a branch of the family business, managing a local shooting range while competing cross nationally in shooting competitions and being promoted through the ranks to eventually become an area manager for a Fortune 500 company.
Rob obtained an associate degree in business at Sierra Junior College. He went on to earn a bachelor's degree in Government with a concentration in business from Sacramento State University.
Since arriving in Live Oak, Rob has been active in community affairs and local politics. He has been a past member of the Live Oak Planning Commission. Rob is currently a member of the Live Oak Lions Club and the Live Oak District Chamber of Commerce. Additionally, he is an active supporter of Live Oak High School Athletics.
Rob began his four-year term in December of 2008. He serves on the following committees: Sutter-Yuba Mosquito & Vector Control District, Regional Waste Management Authority and the Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO). Rob's current City committee assignments include: Community Events, Traffic/Streets/Lights and the League of California Cities. His policy focal points have been fiscal responsibility, working with County and State representatives and public safety in Live Oak.
Rob is a hard working, solution-oriented problem solver. His leadership experience and genuine concern for the betterment of his community will help him to serve the City of Live Oak well.

Council Member Gary Baland

Gary Baland was elected to the City Council in November 2008.
Gary and his wife Kathy have been married 35 years. They moved to Live Oak a few yearsago from the small mountain community of Quincy where it was home for 27 years. The Balands have three grown children and four wonderful grandchildren. Gary is currently a Bridge Foreman for the Union Pacific Railroad and will retire at the end of 2009. Both Gary and Kathy are very active in the community through their involvement in the schools , planned civic events, and the Father's House Church.
Gary is thankful for the opportunity to serve on the City Council and will continue the very high standard that has been set to keep Live Oak a great and safe place for our children to grow up.
