Animal Control Services

The Community Services Department of Sutter County manages the existing animal shelter and provides animal control services for the unincorporated area of Sutter County, the City of Live Oak and the City of Yuba City.  Services include animal licenses, investigation of animal bites, and the quarantine of animals.

The Sutter Animal Services Authority Board (SASA),

A Joint Powers Authority comprised of the County of Sutter, the City of Yuba City and the City of Live Oak. Sutter County is the lead agency and responsible for animal services throughout Sutter County. The SASA Board is working toward construction of a new animal shelter.

The SASA Board is scheduled to meet at 1:00 p.m. at the Sutter County Hall of Records, 466 Second Street, Yuba City, on the following dates: April 23, May 21, June 18, August 20, September 17, October 15, and November 26. Dates are subject to change by action from the SASA Board of Directors.

The SASA Board of Directors is comprised of:

  • Sutter County supervisors Larry Munger and Stan Cleveland Jr.
  • Yuba City council members John Buckland and John Dukes
  • Live Oak council members Gary Baland and Diane Hodges
