The Code Enforcement Department is responsible for ensuring that local laws, ordinances, and regulations are followed-especially those related to property maintenance, zoning, health, and safety. Its goal is to protect the quality of life in the community by addressing violations that might impact public safety, neighborhood appearance, or environmental standards.

Common Code Enforcement items include:

    • Property Maintenance: Enforcing rules about weeds, junk, trash, graffiti, abandoned vehicles, and unsafe structures.
    • Zoning Compliance: Making sure properties are used according to zoning designations (residential, commercial, industrial).
    • Building & Housing Standards: Addressing unpermitted construction, substandard housing conditions, or unsafe dwellings.
    • Health & Safety Issues: Handling violations related to rodents, stagnant water, fire hazards, or unsafe swimming pools.
    • Nuisance Abatement: Investigating complaints about noise, odor, or other disturbances that negatively affect neighbors.
