Its goal is to protect the quality of life in the community by addressing violations that might impact public safety, neighborhood appearance, or environmental standards.
Common Code Enforcement items include:
Property Maintenance: Enforcing rules about weeds, junk, trash, graffiti, abandoned vehicles, and unsafe structures.
Zoning Compliance: Making sure properties are used according to zoning designations (residential, commercial, industrial).
Building & Housing Standards: Addressing unpermitted construction, substandard housing conditions, or unsafe dwellings.
Health & Safety Issues: Handling violations related to rodents, stagnant water, fire hazards, or unsafe swimming pools.
Nuisance Abatement: Investigating complaints about noise, odor, or other disturbances that negatively affect neighbors.
